I grew up on a farm and often had the experience of watching poultry molt. They would be going from one season to the next . . . .
In Jeremiah 31:2-4a
At the same time,” says the Lord, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people.
Thus says the Lord:
“The people who survived the sword
found grace in the wilderness—
Israel, when I went to give him rest.”
The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.
Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt,
O daughter of Israel!
1. I feel like some of us are in a wilderness and I do not know what is happening because there is a new sense and feeling.
2. This verse indicates that God meets us in the wilderness to give us rest and to speak comfort and instruction to us.
3. We should not be disturbed over this season but rest in him knowing that there is another season coming and we need this rest to fulfill that season. It does not mean that we quit working but are just more wise in the timing and extent of our work at this time.
4. Lord, help us to hear clearly to push ahead when we need to and stop, rest and listen when we need to.
